Weddings and Funerals

Weddings at Bethany

Congratulations and may God’s blessings be with you in these days of preparation for your marriage. Christian marriage is a covenant or promise of faithfulness that is grounded in God’s promises of love. We are happy that you have chosen Bethany as the place where you will begin your married life.

Bethany can host larger traditional weddings in our church sanctuary, smaller more intimate settings in our chapel, and even, weather permitting, outdoors in our garden courtyard.

For those considering a wedding at Bethany, please contact the church office by sending an email or call 630-879-3444.

Funerals

The Christian Funeral

The Christian Funeral is a service of worship designed to give thanks to God for the gift of life and of life eternal. The customs, ceremonies, and traditions which surround the occasion of a loved ones’ death provide the basis upon which a healthy process of mourning can be built.

The visitation and worship service, be it either a funeral service or memorial service, provides the necessary environment for family and friends to share their grief, comfort one another, and share our common belief in the power of the resurrection.

At Bethany, we work with funeral homes (if chosen by the family) to provide a seamless transition between public and private mourning. Both funeral and memorial services or celebrations of life are available .

The Visitation

Generally the immediate family is given a time to meet together prior to the public time of visitation. During the time of public visitation, family and friends are encouraged to offer support and condolences. The paradox of mourning is that the family can withdraw from the community because of their grief, but the community cannot and must not withdraw from its support of the family. Such support is a reflection of God’s care and reminds mourners that there are others who truly care for them.
