Bethany Senior Advocacy Team
Bethany’s Senior Advocacy Team formed in the spring of 2022 and has been busy!! Our focus is primarily on the specific needs of our seniors, both within Bethany and within the larger community. We have also partnered with other churches, working together to connect people with various support agencies and other organizations to meet the needs of an aging population, their families, and caregivers. We sponsor and host educational events open to the community and social activities. Thrivent Financial has supported a number of our events and seminar speakers have included a variety of medical, legal and counseling experts as well as local government representatives. Watch for future events, which are posted in a number of public outlets as well as here at www.BethanyBatavia.org.
Movie Nights
This group gets together almost every month. A movie is chosen and shown in Fellowship Hall. Bring a snack to share if desired. After the movie we have a discussion. Join us!
Book Study
Join the occasional book study after church on Sunday. We have a lot of fun and some very interesting discussions in this group. Call the office for more information 630-879-3444.
Women's small group Circles
Who are the Bethany Women of ELCA? We are made up of ALL the women members of Bethany Lutheran Church. We come in all shapes, sizes, and ages! We come from many different backgrounds and have many different gifts to share, but the one thing we have in common is our faith. We offer lots of opportunities to all women for fellowship, time for prayer and spiritual growth through Circles (Bible study groups), special programs, retreats, and outreach ministries to our church, our community, and abroad. New members are always welcome!
Want to join a women's circle at Bethany? Each circle meets once a month to discuss issues, socialize, and help the community. Please contact the church office for more information, 630-879-3444.
Bethany Quilters
This group meets on Tuesday mornings in Fellowship Hall. Hundreds of quilts are produced and sent to local shelters and shipped all over the world through Lutheran World Relief. Don't know how to quilt? We'll teach you!
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry knits or crochets Prayer Shawls for those who are ill or in need of comfort in their lives. The shawls have been blessed before given to those in need. If you are in need of a Prayer Shawl, please call the church office.
We always need knitters and crocheters. We will teach you if you do not know how to knit or crochet. The yarn is supplied by Bethany or you can use your own. Prayer shawls can be knit at home. They measure approximately 26 inches by 62 inches. Fringe can be added if you would like to. Baby blankets can be 36 by 36 inches, or 36 by 45 inches. This group is not currently meeting. If you would like, you may bring your yarn to the quilting group that meets on Tuesdays at 9am. They would love your company!
Bethany Bus on Sundays
If you reside at Heritage Woods, Riverain or Holmstad and take advantage of the Bethany bus to get to Church, there will be a scheduled pick-up for the 9:00am Worship Service. Call the church office for details.
